According to the CBI/Pfizer Absence and Workplace Health Survey 2013, absenteeism cost the UK economy over £14 billion in 2013.

The phenomenon of presenteeism (working when unwell) may cost substantially more (MacGregor et al. 2008. Nearly three in ten of all employees will have a mental health problem of some sort in any given year. People with anxiety and depression take 3½ times as many days off work as people with no mental disorder, according to the British Occupational Health Research Foundation (BOHRF). They further suggest the costs of work related mental health problems in the UK alone are estimated at £23.1 billion.

The key findings of the CBI/Pfizer Absence and Workplace Health Survey 2013 were:

Mental health conditions are the single most widespread cause of long-term absence, with more than half (54%) of employers citing non-work related stress, anxiety and depression as a cause of long-term absence for non-manual workers, and slightly fewer (42%) for manual workers. If you have a key member of staff who is experiencing long term problems such as stress, depression or anxiety, then please feel free to contact me on 07960 374465 to see how I may be able to help.

One of the areas that I have had a great deal of success is in relation to assisting businesses to help employees who are presenting with anger management issues.
